PAIN CONTROL
I am certified in Pain Control through the National Guild of Hypnotists and Pain Management and Hypnoanesthesia as a Certified Medical Hypnotist through the American Board of Clinical and Medical Hypnotherapy.
The Journal of the National Cancer Institute published a study 8/28/07 showing that Hypnosis reduces pain and costs in breast cancer surgery. Pain, nausea and other side effects are mitigated by pre-surgery sessions.
There have been many studies showing the effectivenes of using hypnosis and guided imagery - with significant, measurable results. In one study of migraine patients treated with hypnosis, the treated patients reduced the frequency and duration of their daily headaches, dropping their overall intensity by about 30%. (1992)
According to a 2004 study in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, hypnosis can actually change the way the brain processes pain signals, reducing the brain activity devoted to the feeling of distress even while the pain sensations continue to be received.
